I am quite interested in Sangawa, but to clarify; I read that we can talk about stuff involving an anime or video game in a mature non-judgemental manner, but I have some parts of my own history that put some nasty stereotypes of anime nerds into question and what I did with my love of video games to smack even more stereotypes in the face, would this be appropriate for a panel or something similar?

Create a GOOD description of what you want to do in your panel, how you want to do it, give it a catchy name, then submit it.  The worst they can say is no.  Really, you have nothing to loose.  The better you describe what your panel would be about, the better chance you have of getting it accepted!
