Wow that is ridiculous, I guess the other hotels don't want us because they heard about that XD However if I recall lots of people going to Tekko stayed at the Westin so perhaps they'll let us back based on their hopefully good behavior

I doubt that. I think those people who were at the Westin were allowed there because they weren't 'affiliated' with Tekkoshocon by their reservations (i.e. Hotel Blocks, and Tekko VII actually had part of the con hosted on site)

If it does turn out to be a sign of changing opinions, though, that would be wonderful, but I don't really know how forgiving these places are about various bits of dickery =/

Staffing kept me from making this for the first time since... place that shall not be named?  Frig.  Out of curiosity, what did the bracket look like this year?

Asuna (Sword Art Online)
Dante (DMC)
Sesshoumaru (Inu Yasha)
Akira (Eden of the East)
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass)
Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Hikaru Shidou (Magic Knight Rayearth)

One problem I'm aware of myself has to do with our complacency for a repeat audience. While it was clear that some of the new attendees at our panel were still having fun and enjoying the joking around, I sort of take it for granted that the general setup and basic rules we've used in the past are more or less 'known' by everyone. This is turning out to be approaching 'hubris' level thinking, and I'll be sure to take the time to make actual introductory things again, for the benefit and fun of everyone.

I also heard some suggestions for how to better keep track of scoring for the benefit of the audience as well as myself if matchups end up going to a decision, so that basic issue will be covered ^^

And, for the sake of both the panel and the general number of people who utilize it for communication, I caved. I have a Twitter account now. If you don't want to write up emails, can't find me on facebook, or can't catch me on YIM, please direct your 140 characters to @BrianTheFuzzy. I read every single thing that has my name on it, I promise :P

Suggestions: please give us them! If we can't make the matchup work as it is, at the very least it lets us know who we can put in the main event tournament

Take it on the road? Okay...what other cons are you guys going to? Can I room with you? :)

I think if we did not have the focus on music that we have, we would not be haing a discussion about X2, because it would not have happened. You can only run on one thing for so long before it turns into "go-and-see-my-friends-and-why-buy-a-badge-con".

This is the reason why I, as a long-time attendee and panelist, didn't mind so much about the more sparing compensation for my pre-reg :)

I love Uncle Yo and will see him every time I can, but the political and religious jokes seem to be getting darker as the years progress. I hope he keeps coming back and his main act can become otaku/nerd focused again. For the late night improv though, I'll laugh at space vaginas all weekend long.

Speaking of improv, it was hilarious again this year.

*Groan* I should make myself a giant Rei shirt to wear next year at this rate. Thanks for saying so about the improvs, I'm glad you had fun :)

12. Screening of Panels: I saw quite a few panels on the schedule that were not Japanese culture related. If this is going to happen, the double standard with things such as the dance comp needs removed. Any Asian music (not all music, just Asian) should be accepted if panelists can do panels on anything they want to.
There also seemed to be a lack of quality panels; while the descriptions may have been good, the presentations were poor or inappropriate for quite a few panels. Perhaps there could be staff/anons who sit in on panels and review them, and let panel heads know about them, and if the panels/panelists should be allowed back.

Speaking as a long-time panelist, and one who's very conscious of my own lack of quality this year, I won't waste time making excuses for particular shortcomings. However, I don't see a need for a staffer to play Roger Ebert to every piece of programming on the schedule. In all honesty, I welcome feedback to the events that I ran and took part of (Anime Fight Club and Tekko Improv this year), and I'll bet many of the other panelists would too. Please, give us your critique, give us all of your constructive criticism you can with how we did things this year. That helps us do better the next time around =)
